A Carlsberg & Brooklyn Brewery collaboration as ipulse as their sole designated creative partner.
In another sign of Hong Kong’s blossoming love affair with craft beer, Carlsberg announced the news of a new collaboration with New York’s popular Brooklyn Brewery.
They approached ipulse to handle the entire project from inception to execution. The range, we developed and named HK YAU – the character YAU <<友>> means ‘friendship’ and is used here to reference the collaboration between passionate peeps that produced the brews – includes three new beers we also named that use local flavours and recipes with a North American influence.
The YAU spirit is about the power of comradery and community.
It’s about shared passion, like minds and, at the end of the day, people.
Color & material
The main HK YAU brand colour is Hong Kong Red, as an agency, we suggested suitable colours and the red that was chosen by the client because it is synonymous with Hong Kong.
For the three beer varients, Lager, Wheat and Pale Ale, we worked with neon Pantones to translate the concept of Neon lights onto all packaging and POS.

Carlsberg looked to engage with our full suite of services and depended on our agency to take the journey from research, planning, architecture into execution for the entire brand and work with them over an eighteen-month period to a successful rollout.
We have crafted a unique brand name HK YAU, with 3 unique beer brands.
HK YAU brings life across its brand experience, we created everuthing on display, from the naming, beer stories and brand manifesto and architecture. A comprehensive suite of packaging and POS was designed and marketing material which included a custom website design,
Photography and social media creation were included and we are proud to still partner with the client and see the beer launch and be savoured accross Hong Kong.
